Little Windows...

Made the most of a little lunchtime window of less onshore and dribbly waisthigh waves today. The warming water, abundance of little fun waves and sunshine definately made it worth heading out for.

Wait a second. I'm the longboarder should I not be the one practicing this?

Poland and a PhD

No longer the view from my window
The last of the campfires
Late night paddling
Walking the plank
Hopefully plenty more summer loving

Returned home from Poland this afternoon, after a great couple of weeks. Great kids, great times and plenty more friendships from round the world made. Stoked to be home too though, Especially since a letter of acceptance to a PhD I applied for a couple months back was sitting in the hallway. Buzzing! Looks like Thom's spending another 3 years about the North Coast and joins Paud and Pete as Irish PhD studying bloggers!

River Mouth Bumps...

Unexpected...

Surfed some lumps in front of the river mouth last night. It really was tiny. But I was celebrating. Handed in my last ever bit of uni assessment yesterday. Nuts...

Unexpected finless fun...

My first sight of todays swell. Clean, well shaped but not a lot of size to it. Headed round the corner instead to find something a bit bigger.

After an hour or so in the water I foolishly set the board on top of the car forgetting it was blowing pretty hard, resulting the single fin becoming a zero fin complete with a few scratches.

Every clouds got a silver lining though. Turned out that small clean waves are perfect for a couple of hours of finless fun...

Moody Monday (relief!)

The waves and the weather seemed to be constantly changing tonight

Mini lefts...

First ever water shot couple of years back.

Dissertation due in tomorrow but I kinda promised myself I'd fit a surf in this weekend. Beautiful weather, light offshores but only miniature waves were on offer. Here comes summer...

Lost time can be found again...

Aquapac

Aaron and I spent some time playing about in tiny surf at the local tonight with an 'aquapac' for the point and shoot I bought a couple years ago. Before heading elsewhere to find some waves with abit more grunt.

Was my first time really getting any experience shooting waves from the water and to be honest I was kinda stoked with the results. I know the gear I was using was far from ideal but it was real fun finding new angles to shoot from and taking pictures of waves and surfscapes that have never been accessible to me before. Kinda got me thinking about getting a wee olympus for messing about with this summer or even going the whole hog and buying water housing for the SLR.

Whatever the story t'was damn fun being in the water again till long beyond the sun went down.

Explosions in the sky...

Light through the dark on Binevenagh

Kinda symbolic of todays moment of insecurity/fear/clarity.

Happy Easter and enjoy catching some waves with one less in the lineup. I gotta go a studying some more...

Beauty and the Bland..

The light through the thorns...

Taken during a much needed break from the dissertation this evening. Few things clear the head better than a walk by the beach and a good ol' ice cream!

Cool and Clean

A quick glimpse

Awog sporting his toasty new wares

Todays sticks of choice

Well after a break of 10 days (it felt alot longer) I finally got back in the water. Conditions weren't actually that bad. Pretty small but also pretty clean and didn't feel that cold. I was really rusty though. Slow and awkward to get to my feet and a few times I felt as if I had absolutely no balance. Still was great to get in the water and hopefully I won't have to wait so long until the next time...

Caught off guard...

Big, clean, bright and offshore

Thumping

Sepia toned loving...

Pulling in
Before Dark
.
Kinda got caught out by todays swell. Was back with the folks and family at the weekend and didn't really get looking at the charts. Turned out today was a cracker. Pulled into the local to see waves stacking up half a mile out. Didn't have a board or even the SLR with me so i was forced to spectate with the point and shoot. Tomorrows supposed to be even bigger with better light and howling offshores...yasssss!
